30 Jun, 2025Our café’s audio upgrade with two HOLO-WHAS units solved problems I didn’t know we had. Linking them through the HoloHome app created 14 independent zones: 8 for dining areas playing ambient jazz, 4 for the patio with Spotify playlists, and even dedicated channels for kitchen alerts. Staff control it all from iPads – switching Zone 10-12 to happy hour mode takes two taps. The game-changer? Scheduled audio routing; at 3 PM it automatically mutes dining zones and pipes baking tutorials to the pastry station via USB capture. For under $3k, we got a system rivaling $15k pro installs. OpenAudio’s rack-mount brackets made installation a breeze too!

30 Jun, 2025After three weeks with the HOLO-WHAS, what impresses me most is how effortlessly it handles our family’s audio chaos. My son streams gaming soundtracks via Bluetooth to Zone 1, I AirPlay news to the kitchen on Source 3, and my wife syncs her yoga playlist to the patio through Spotify Connect – all running simultaneously without a single dropout. The HoloHome app makes it simple to adjust routing when we need to rearrange zones. For a household with three different phone ecosystems (iOS, Android, and even my old Windows laptop using DLNA), this is the first system that truly plays nice with everyone’s devices. No more arguing over who controls the music!

28 Jun, 2025I tested the HOLO-WHAS for a bit, and honestly, I’m blown away by how insanely fast and stable the connection is! Whether I’m using Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, the signal stays rock solid the entire time. I didn’t expect this kind of reliability in a multi-room setup at this price point. Music streams instantly, no buffering, just pure seamless playback. Controlling audio across different rooms has never been this effortless and smooth.

26 Jun, 2025Replaced an old Nyles multi room receiver with this product. Had a minor issue because I had not set the zone level EQ properly (each zone has its own EQ!!). The support team at Holosound is the best! Extremely responsive and researched the issue thoroughly with clear and complete instructions.

25 Jun, 2025I’m using the HOLO-WHAS multi-room streaming amplifier in my wife’s studio, and it works amazingly well. The sound is crisp and powerful, with no distortion even when turned up. It was easy to set up, and the HoloHome app makes controlling the different zones super convenient.

13 Jun, 2025Before diving into Holowhas, I took a deep dive into OpenAudio’s history and discovered their serious creds in the digital cinema world—they’re connected to Hollywood, involved with the DCI initiative, and supply digital cinema servers, audio processors, DACs, and cinema amps to major chains like AMC, CGV, and Wanda. Knowing that, we figured they’d nail the multi-room streaming amp game—and boy, were we right.

12 Jun, 2025I’ve been using the OpenAudio HOLO-WHAS for the last six months in my new home with in-ceiling speakers wired into various rooms, and I couldn’t be happier with the experience. From the start, the setup was simple and intuitive — I was up and running in no time.
The AirPlay functionality works flawlessly with my Roon server, delivering high-quality audio throughout the house. I’ve also streamed from Apple Music and Spotify without a hitch. Additionally, the Bluetooth capability integrates seamlessly with my Samsung Frame TV for an even more connected experience.
The companion app is well-designed and offers impressive flexibility. I can easily manage volume and EQ settings per zone, which has really elevated the multi-room audio experience. The sound quality is consistently great — clear, full, and responsive to tuning.
After a recent firmware upgrade (which unlocked even more capabilities), I encountered a minor hiccup with the app. To my surprise, the OpenAudio team proactively offered a Zoom session with an engineer to troubleshoot. That level of support is rare and appreciated. In the end, simply reinstalling the app and restarting the unit resolved the issue, but their willingness to help was impressive and reassuring.
If you’re looking for a cost-effective, feature-rich, and well-supported whole-home audio streamer and amplifier, I highly recommend the HOLO-WHAS. It’s a fantastic addition to any smart home audio setup.

19 May, 2025I just purchase the HoloWhas 8 zone – total 960W amplifier. I’m fairly new to the unit, but so far I really like the unit. I’m still adjusting to some of the nuances of this product and their technical team is outstanding! This team has communicated quickly and answered questions regarding the set up. I am still working on personalizing it per outputs and speaker zones. The team has been professional, efficient, and even offered to help be on a Saturday this past week. I love working with their team!

5 May, 2025Great product to stream music throughout your home that has hardwired speakers.I replaced my outdated Russound system with Holo-Whas. It’s easy to install, supports 8 zones, and resolved initial app issues with a firmware update. Now it runs smoothly and meets all my whole-house audio needs.

23 Apr, 2025I first came across them at a CEDIA show. After seeing their demo, I was totally sold on their products. They were one of the first to support AirPlay 2 when everyone else was still just on AirPlay, and they support eight AirPlay 2 devices. This year, I’m heading to Denver and really hoping to catch up with them again and see what new developments they’ve got up their sleeves.

21 Apr, 2025I have now owned two HOLO-HWAS for about 3 months now. I came across the device when searching for solutions to play synchronous audio through the built in, hardwired speakers in our home. We moved into our home, which is about 20 years old, and had been built with a Crestron system. Needless to say I wanted a modern, reasonably priced, solution to control the speaker pairs throughout the house. There are about 15 rooms with a pair of speakers in each. I started with purchasing the first HOLO-HWAS and becoming familiar with it. The idea being that it could provide various routing of different input sources to individual or groups of outputs.
I found HOLO-HWAS to be a relatively simple and elegant solution for what I wanted. I did all the install and setup myself, however I am an electrical engineer and have a long history of tinkering with gadgets and home / car audio. I suspect many people considering purchasing this kind of device may be professional installers or individuals looking to hire professional installers. In any case, while I could handle complexity, it was very important to me that once it was set up it was VERY EASY to use for my wife and kids.
I received the first unit. Initial setup was very simple. I got the HOLO-Home App on my iphone installed. Plugged the unit into power and hardwire network connected it. The app found it immediately. The physical device has not a single button or light on the front, which I found a bit odd. There are a power button and reset button on the back and that is it. The app itself also is pretty limited – essentially you can rename the zones, reroute which input goes to which zones, and tinker with zone volume and EQ control. You can also get device information like network address and firmware version. The app is not very graphically pretty. You can tell it is a young product, but I have NEVER had the app crash on me or lag or do anything weird. I did at a point in time go through the process to get the device on WiFi which involves pressing the reset button. It works fine, but a bit clunky. More complicated when you want to change WiFi networks…
After getting through the setup, I wired up some of my speakers to the detachable connectors provided. While this style is not as “fancy” as banana plug terminal, I found it very effective for my setup with lots of 18AWG wires. My devices are rack mounted and being able to wire the plug and then attach it was super helpful. I really had not used Airplay all that much, so my initial go to was to setup a Spotify input. As advertised, I told a few zones to route to the Spotify input in the Holo-Home app, went to Spotify app, it saw the HOLO-HWAS device, selected it, and easy as that I had wireless music synced and playing to three rooms at once. After a bit more tinkering, I realized the power of Airplay 2 and this device.
I cannot overstate how EASY this is to use after EASY setup. In fact, I messed with a lot of things to realize later the best setup was default configuration from how they ship it. Essentially HOLO-HWAS presents a Airplay 2 channel (8 per HOLO-HWAS) routed to each zone (speaker pair). I named all my zones (rooms) and when you choose Airplay from control center on a Apple device, all 16 options (across two holo-hwas for me) are presented. With Airplay 2 you can select as many as you would like and control volume for each individually or together as a group. I spent 30 seconds showing my wife and she immediately got it. Another luxury is anyone on your private wireless network can easily access the speakers using their iphone as well. So very cool. I was a bit concerned as this is not a hefty device for a 16-channel amplifier. Sound quality will also be very dependent on speakers used as well. I wouldn’t plan on driving any kind of large, multi speaker unit, but for in-ceiling and bookshelf sized speakers it seems to work well enough. Overall, it has greatly exceeded my expectations given the number of channels and cost.
The more I have used my speakers, the more I appreciate how simply elegant it all is. Yes, the app could be more refined and there could be displays on the device to give you more info on what is happening. Yes – initially – I thought why does the device not have the ability to locally play music easily (like MP3s) or login to your streaming accounts directly. But the beauty of the device is I don’t ever even have to think about the device itself or really use the app past the initial setup. I just now can take for granted that if I want to play music through the speakers it just works seamlessly, and you forget that the device is even there to create the bridge between your Apple device and the speakers. And it is so great to just control things on my phone, iPad, or Apple TV as normal and just select what speakers I want to use.
All this said, the device does support playback from USB, 3.5MM input via USB, and a few other streaming protocols. All of them are more clunky and complex than Airplay, but I presume can accomplish the functionality. I actually was using mostly FireTV Sticks, but switched to some Apple TVs just to be able to use Airplay because of the technical complexity to use the FireTV Sticks with the HOLO-HWAS.
I sent a couple of questions to customer service and received prompt responses. I asked for an alternate compatible 3.5MM to USB input option which they gave me suggestions for. I asked a question regarding how the output routing worked, which very impressively they exchanged emails with me to confirm exactly what I was looking for, and then implemented the change in an update in a few weeks.
In summary I am very happy with the product and interested to see what the developers can do with it as they work to refine it further. It does feel like a very young product for now that can do a handful of things very well. It does not have the polish we are used to from Apple and bigger brands, but the functionality and reliability is there. If you are looking for this kind of functionality, have the need for the number of channels, and use the Apple EcoSystem this is definitely a great option!

11 Apr, 2025Works GREAT as advertised, easy to set up, easy to use!I bought this amp to power ceiling speakers in my patio. It handles 16 channels for 8 dual voice coil speakers, controlled via the app on my Samsung phone. With 60 watts per channel, it’s perfect for my 8″ speakers. Setup was simple, no extra streamer needed, and tech support is helpful. So far, no issues.

22 Mar, 2025I bought this product to replace an aging Russound system that is no longer supported. We have a large home with 8 zones with built in Polk ceiling speakers. The Russound system was put in during our build in 2007/2008 and technology has vastly changed. I burned over 300 CDs on the media server and system used keypads to access content. It was connected through my wired network so I was able to buy a few Apple Airport Expresses and place strategically throughout the house and program an input on the keypad for Airplay in order to listen to music, YouTube, Podcasts, etc. from my iPhone/iPad. Then Apple quit making the Airport devices which eventually over time quit working.
Here is where Holo-Whas comes in. I was able to remove my existing Russound components that I have mounted on a rack in my network closet. The Holo-Whas is also rack-mountable. I plugged it into my network switch so it is hard wired like the Russound system. I removed the keypads from all 8 rooms and planned to patch the old holes. The speaker wires were easy to install into the Holo-Whas unit. I purchased this unit back in July 2024. I initially could not get the Holo-Whas app to work correctly before finding out that the app was replaced with Holo-Home. I could not get it to work correctly at first such as assigning Zones, renaming Zones, setting up inputs, etc. I contacted customer service by email and got a response back within an hour. They sent me a new firmware update with instructions. It was easy to install and now it works perfectly. I also now can use 8 input source as opposed to the original 4 when I bought it which was an added bonus.
The 60 watts per channel are enough to drive my high end Polk speakers. I don’t blast music any longer so I can’t speak for everyone. I can stream YouTube, YouTube TV audio, Apple Music, Podcasts, etc. without any issues. I bought a USB to RCA line in adapter to hook up an old CD player which also works well. My wife doesn’t want to give up listening to her Christmas CDs.
This a very good solution for home audio and made my old system replaceable for not a whole lot of money. I did look a JukeBox but there were complaints about their system being underpowered. Holo-Whas worked great for my needs and customer service was excellent. I would highly recommend this product.

13 Feb, 2025I came across the Holo-Whas multi-room amplifier as the best solution to use pre-existing ceiling speakers (20-year-old, 6.5″ SpeakerCraft speakers) spread across the house and mostly in the different rooms of the open-plan first floor.
My top requirement was that it had to be friendly to everyone at home using Apple devices – from adults using iPhones to kids using iPads – and this one delivers! A custom app maps specific sound sources (AirPlay, Spotify connect, USB or Bluetooth) to any grouping of speaker zones, so everyone can have “their” preferred source. Note that a speaker can be assigned to just one source at a time, so one might have to remap the source/speakers pairs as needed.
Second requirement, budget. The only competition I found is Juke Audio, which has a very similar product quite a bit more expensive – and with much less power. More on this next.
Third, is sound quality. Looking at the component ratings of my old SpeakerCrafts I figured I needed at least 40 to 60W per channel. The Juke 8 only carried 20W and some of its reviews mention under-powering, so I was unconvinced. The Holo-Whas claims 60W per channel; I did not independently verify, but my speakers sing with it! The sound produced by this combination is actually very detailed and balanced, nothing metallic or tinny like I usually hear with soundbars; I might even connect a speaker-level subwoofer in the future to improve the sound further on that first floor. I also was able to connect my only two wired sources to one USB input. The first source is a Sonos Connect (for legacy purposes, since I still have older Sonos speakers in some rooms) that I connect via an RCA to USB converter (DigitNow capture card grabber, which provides excellent sound dynamics btw). The second is an HDMI ARC audio extractor for playing the sound of my TV, since unfortunately the Bluetooth audio built in the Holo-Whas has a small delay and looks out of synch with the TV picture – but no more delay via HDMI ARC. I connected the 3.5mm output of the ARC extractor to the DigitNow, and all works well. I can now send the sound from the TV in the open family room to the dining or the kitchen that looks to it.
Finally, I want to mention the support has been impressive so far, just as described in other reviews. I received next-day answers to all my questions and was sent a link to the latest firmware which can just be loaded to the amp with a USB flash drive. I also understand the manufacturer plans to stand behind this product and provide replacement if it fails.
All in all, this is a solid 5-star product so far. I love that it has all what is needed to power 16 speakers (8 zones) with today’s wifi/Bluetooth connectivity in just one box.

4 Feb, 2025Amazon Vine Customer Review of Free Product( What’s this? )
I waited quite some time to ensure that there would be a decent review written about this product. The sound quality is really great. Initially it was a little challenging for me to set up, but is actually easy to use going forward and it’s very functional. the amplifier is really good and I love that you can use it throughout the house and control just from one area, it is built with really good quality and seems like it will withstand time

3 Feb, 2025I have two homes. One home has 2 Juke Audio multi-room amplifiers. The other (which is brand new), I used the Holo-Whas. What a difference. The Juke sound is not as crisp and sometimes there is hum. Additionally, the software constantly disconnects and I need a reboot to get it to work.
The Holo-Whas has amazing, crisp and distortion free sound. Far superior to the Juke. The Holo-Whas software is still needing some love. Lots of bugs and a problem with the software needing to constantly connect. That said, it’s not much worse than Juke’s software. Hopefully it will improve.
For some background, I connected the Holo-Whas to a Wiim Ultra. Works seamlessly. At the other home, the Juke is connected to a Sonos. I am going to pull the Sonos and connect a Wiim and see if some of the problems go away. The two Jukes are networked and I don’t know if that has anything to do with the problems that I have with that platform.
Anyway, for now… I feel the Holo-Whas is a better platform for crisp and clear audio

23 Jan, 2025I’m from Germany, and I used to use equipment from VSSL. Not only was it expensive, but it also only supported six output channels. Plus, it wouldn’t fit in my rack. By chance, I ran into these guys at the CinemaCon trade show. Turns out they supply cinema audio processors to major theater chains like AMC and CGV. They also develop and manufacture this kind of equipment. I went back to Germany and chucked my VSSL gear in the trash. I got their equipment instead.

4 Jan, 2025This product works exactly as advertised and has been a great addition to my setup. I initially had trouble configuring my wired speakers from the 1990s, but their support team was exceptional—providing assistance via email and even Zoom calls. The issue turned out to be a wiring problem on my end. Once I resolved it, everything worked flawlessly.
Now, I have music playing seamlessly across several zones in my house. I frequently use AirPlay, and it performs without any hiccups. I plan to try Spotify and other modes soon and will update my review if necessary.
One of the standout aspects of this company is their openness to suggestions and feedback. It’s reassuring to know there are real people behind the product who genuinely care about their customers’ experiences.

18 Dec, 2024Bought this unit for whole house speaker control. Though I only use 4 zones, it is capable of 8 and works fantastic !!
Excellent sound and power output!
Easy setup! Up and running in 15 minutes!

17 Dec, 2024I’ve been comparing all the options for whole home audio and settled on the Holo-Whas. It arrived on time and was packaged very well. The unit itself appears to be built well and has a very sleek look that will fit nicely in my media rack. I haven’t finished setting everything up yet as the house is still under construction. I wanted to test it out, though, and hooked it up a pair of monoprice in ceiling speakers. It powered them up nicely. I was concerned there wouldn’t be enough power, but in my small little trial the speakers were very loud. I’ve reached out to the company several times with pre and post purchase questions about the Holo-Whas unit and can say their customer support has been very good. I’ll update this review after I’m done setting everything up.

10 Dec, 2024I bought this to play ceiling speakers in the patio. I needed 16 channels as I was going to install 8 dual voice coil speakers to get both the right and left channel of sound in each zone. This unit has no outside switches other than a power button. It streams and plays 8 zones, 16 speakers and is controlled with the provided app off a apple oe in my case, samsung cell phone. The amp produces 60 watts a channel and this is plenty for the 8″ ceiling speakers I installed. I can’t comment on durability yet, as I recently purchased this amp, but so issues so far. The most important to me is that it is simple to use wirelessly, set up is simple, and it does what it says it will without having to purchase a separate streamer in addition to this. The tech support actually exists, and is helpful, unlike others who claim to have support!

6 Dec, 2024I had used HEOS in the past, and SONOS. I wanted something that would allow my wife to play through our installed speakers in the house without needing a ton of explanation, and the HEOS app wasn’t great. I was considering another streaming amp which was more expensive, but found this one and saw all the reviews. I figured it was worth a shot to save a few $$.
The version I got had old firmware, but I reached out to the support email and quickly got a response. They set me up with the newer version of the firmware, and it installed seamlessly and allowed me to set up the Airplay names and zones exactly how I wanted them. It worked great, and is so simple to use from whichever app you like to play music from. I’m all-in on the Apple ecosystem, so Airplay is my goto.
I recommend this over the much more expensive options for music distributed throughout your home.

4 Dec, 2024Great hardware, loud high quality sound and easy setup. Super easy to update firmware if needed – just plug in USB flash drive with new file and it takes few seconds.
Software on iOS is a little clunky but vendor is amazing and iterating very very fast to make it better.
Amazing high value alternative to Sonos, Wiim, and Juke amplifiers.
Fits on my home rack perfectly!

20 Nov, 2024This multi room amp came well packaged and appears to be very nicely made and good quality! We’ve been looking for something like this to hook up multiple rooms and the options on this one seemed to be everything we were looking for. The price point is a little steep but in line with other like amps of this style. We have not got it hooked up yet (waiting on our son in law to help us do that) but once we install I will update my review if it doesn’t work as it should or we encounter any issues.

20 Nov, 2024Never seen better support for a hardware product. The team is very responsible on email, including giving custom builds for features. Full AirPlay 2 support including synchronized music. Can synchronize on multiple machines. HTTP APIs to control the system howsoever you want including Home Assistant.

15 Nov, 2024I was a bit skeptical of getting this amplifier because I’ve been accustomed to installing either larger/heavier amps+preamps for my house installs or installing Sonos and Sonos-type alternatives. The costs of those going from high hundreds for single zones to thousands for multiple zones.
The HoloWHAS to me seems like a winner.
– I migrated from an amp+preamp to this in about 15-20 min.
– It’s light so you don’t need a lot of support when mounting in a server rack.
– I hardwired it to my network, installed the app, and the app found it immediately.
The app took a few minutes of playing around to get used to it. Once you do, it’s smooth sailing.
I think to most critical part of this purchase and test for me was confirming that the support is great. They respond within 24 hours and offer real solutions.
For anyone wondering – when I purchased my 8-zone amp, its firmware by default supported 4 sources. So if you had 8 rooms connected to the amp, you’d presumably group across the 4 sources. If you reach out to support they’ll be able to send you a firmware update – copy the file to a flash drive, connect it to the amp, wait ~30 seconds, and you’ll see the app update to now support 8 sources.
The sources that it’s currently supporting (fw v1.0.87) are:
– Spotify
– AirPlay
– DLNA (though I haven’t tested this one yet)
– RCA (via an adapter, not included. RCA to usb)
ugh
9 Nov, 2024I never heard of Halo Sound, but decided to give this product a try based on other positive reviews and the price, which is a good bit less than comparable products.
Hardware is easy to install. The software interface that runs on your mobile phone is simple and intuitive. They provide pretty good instructions to set up the hardware with the software, but they must be carefully followed or you may get sidetracked. Once setup, product works as advertised. I have a zone in the house where I run speakers in parallel which bring the impedance down to 4 ohms. Was concerned that the amplifier might not perform well at a lower impedance, but it seems to do just fine. S
Most impressive is their support which is provided via email. Halo may be a small company, but they are clearly trying to build a great reputation based on good customer experience. They were tripping over themselves to help me with an upgrade to their firmware.
We will see how the product does over the long haul, but right now I am a pretty satisfied customer.

30 Oct, 2024The HOLO-WHAS Multi-Room Audio Amplifier is a versatile and powerful solution for anyone looking to enjoy high-quality audio throughout their home. Here’s a detailed look at its features and performance:
Design and Build Quality:
The amplifier boasts a sleek and modern design that fits seamlessly into any home decor or would also be right at home in a rack mount server configuration out of sight. Its robust build ensures durability, with high-quality materials used throughout. The aluminum housing looks very sleek and durable, and the rack mount brackets are very strong.
Performance:
This amplifier delivers impressive sound quality across all zones. Each of the 8 zones can be independently controlled, allowing for different audio sources to be played in different rooms simultaneously. The sound is clear and powerful, with minimal distortion even at higher volumes. The amplifier handles complex loads well, ensuring consistent performance across various speaker types. In the app I was easily able to set up different zones and change them instantaneously and the sound quality was very good when streaming spotify.
Connectivity and Features:
I currently only have AirPlay as a source, but the unit allows for other connectivity options based on your needs. Additionally, the system can be controlled via a dedicated app, providing a user-friendly interface for managing your home audio setup. The app is very intuitive, and setup was a breeze.
Installation and Setup:
Setting up the amplifier is straightforward, thanks to the clear instructions provided. The system is designed for easy installation, whether you’re a DIY enthusiast or prefer professional help. The included mounting hardware and cables are of good quality, ensuring a hassle-free setup process. I had it hooked up to several sets of my speakers within about 30 minutes. 29 Jun, 2024Great wi-fi stereo amplifier !!I extensively researched all the streaming amps. I am not an audiophile. But I like all kinds of music. Myself, my wife, and my kids couldn’t be happier with these. They were extremely easy to setup. The ethernet ones are automatically recognized by the app.

27 Jun, 2024After I purchased it, I couldn’t figure out how to connect my CD player’s analog output. They hooked me up with a DigitNow RCA-to-USB Converter, which worked like a charm. And get this—they actually support UAC. When I wanted to hook up a second analog input for another audio source, they went above and beyond to make it happen, supporting two UAC inputs. I’ve never encountered service like this in all my years.
